more for subject guides

Another valuable info source to add to subject guides?

SCOPUS now makes available RSS feeds for the top 20 cited articles by subject.

You can see these here: http://info.scopus.com/topcited/

I added a feed for the nursing subject to the Nursing LibGuides page here (Journal Article tab, below the fold in middle column): http://demo.libguides.com/aecontent.php?pid=5211&sid=32438

Features like "most cited" and "new titles" are potentially useful our users. What I'm not sure about is how to present this information. Do we simply provide links to access this info, or do we take up space on the page to display the actual content? My personal inclination is that I only want to see this info when I need it. But then again, I don't think we are typical users. What do the rest of you think?

It's a good question - this might be something to display, but perhaps below the fold, or as you say, just with a link. The positive with displaying the content is that it puts the names of the top journals and titles of top research right in the face of the students - so they don't have to make a conscious choice to hopefully absorb some of the info or get ideas for papers or recognize seminal journals in their field. It may also depend on the subject and what else is available in that field that might be more important.

Can we do this in the Lotus environment?
How about doing this with a twisty at some prominent part of the page? If the user wants to see the info they can click the twisty. If they don't it won't be obtrusive.
